10 Uses for Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil is a must-have for the home. It’s great for cleaning nearly every surface of the home, purifying the air and has a fantastic refreshing scent. I often just uncap the bottle and smell the invigorating aroma. It literally feels like a fresh-cut lemon right under your nose.

So did you know that Lemon essential oil is derived from the rind of lemons – not the juice or the pulp? And it takes 3,000 lemons to produce 1 kilo of essential oil. Pretty amazing, right? That’s a whole lot of lemons in just one bottle of Lemon essential oil.

For this blog post, I’m going to talk about topical and aromatic uses for Lemon essential oil. Remember with all citrus essential oils, if you use them topically (on the skin) they can make your skin photo-sensitive in the sun. I personally would avoid direct sunlight on any area of my skin where I applied any citrus essential oil. If you’re looking to use it for dietary purposes, check out Lemon Vitality essential oil. It’s the exact same oil but the bottle has been labeled for dietary use.
